While the speaker is the same size as its predecessor, the second-generation model has 10 Watt acoustic drivers that the original MagicBox did not have, as well as an improved passive radiator for better bass.

As we explain in more detail below, this wireless speaker has several appealing features and some misses.

Pros and Cons of the MagicBox II Design

The blue MagicBox II Speaker measures 6” x 2” x 1.6”, is lightweight at 11.5 ounces (0.7 pounds) and runs via wireless Bluetooth, which makes it easy to easy to carry around with you. Its top and bottom are made of rubber, for high durability; the material has a good grip, so it helps prevent the Bluetooth unit from sliding across whatever surface you put it. The blue color is eye catching.

Conveniently at the top are the control buttons for volume, pause/play, skipping tracks, and answering calls. Being able to answer phone calls with a touch of a button is a handy feature that you will also get with the Bose SoundLink II.

The Bluetooth 4.0 speaker’s mesh metal covers three of the remaining sides, and the last side, made of plastic, is where you’ll find the power button, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB port. The latter port is where you can easily charge the speaker’s 2000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, the rubber material of the casing easily attracts dust, which interestingly is also a drawback we noted with the SoundLink II. Having to clean the device regularly is time-consuming.

Also, the speaker does not exactly break the mold when it comes to appearance, in contrast to the Harman Kardon SoundSticks Speaker System’s unique design that features a transparent casing and satellite pods.

What We Like: Assessing the Best Cheap Bluetooth Speaker

An obvious plus is an affordable price. The MagicBox 2 is a fraction of the cost of some other devices we highlighted in Bluetooth speaker reviews. Spending less money on a speaker gives you more in the bank, or you can buy other things with the extra money.

When we tested the speaker, we wondered if its sound would be terrible given its low price. We were pleasantly surprised when we found that it provided decent sound quality. The audio was better than we expected for a cheap speaker.

The MagicBox II gives a decent thump too for songs that are heavy on the bass. Admittedly, the sound is sub par to the JBL Charge 2+, but then again it is less expensive too. The DKnight speaker does not sound clear when you turn up the volume button to the max.

What is DKnight’s MagicBox II Wireless Speaker Missing?

It would not be fair to highlight only the pros and not the cons. There are a few misses, including not being waterproof. If you like to hang around the beach or pool, there’s the danger of this portable device shorting out if it gets wet.

Also, its rechargeable battery only lasts about 10 hours, which is half of the playtime you’ll get with a single battery charge of the UE Megaboom (20 hours). Being able to go longer without charging is handy if you are on the move a lot and don’t often have access to a charging port.

Who Will Be a Fan?

This DKnight Bluetooth speaker will perk the interest of anyone who considers the price to be one of the most important factors in their buying decision. As one of the best cheap Bluetooth speakers, the MagicBox II provides great benefits, including being easily portable as it is small in size and weighs under a pound.

For a user who is often on the move, these attributes are great; simply put the speaker into your backpack and away you go. There is even the option for hands-free calling, thanks to the integrated microphone, which is convenient when you’re out and about.

If ease of use is important too, then the MagicBox II fits the bill. It easily pairs with a smartphone or other Bluetooth-capable device that uses Bluetooth V2.1 and higher.

Listeners of songs that have a lot of bass are likely to appreciate the Bass Pad that comes with the speaker. As for the color, the vibrant blue casing is fun and great for the user who wants to turn heads with their gear.

Special Features: The LED Lights

The unique features of the blue MagicBox II from DKnight help make it one of the best cheap Bluetooth speakers. For example, there are the LEDs. When you first turn on the device, a blue LED lights up and flashes until you connect your music to it. Then, when you want to charge the box, a red LED shows up and stays lit until the charge is complete.

These lights simplify the use of the Bluetooth speaker. The speaker also comes with a handy Bass Pad for you to put the speaker on so that it won’t move around during bass-heavy songs.

Bluetooth Speaker Reviews Conclusion

You can expect several benefits from the DKnight MagicBox II, including a portable and compact design, although it has a few flaws, including a rubber casing that quickly attracts dust. In our opinion, though, the advantages outweigh any limitations.

For example, the speaker is simple to pair with Bluetooth-compatible devices, looks great in bold blue, and has an intuitive button design. The price is quite low and is very reasonable considering the decent audio performance. In other words, if you are looking for the best cheap Bluetooth speaker, the MagicBox II is one to consider.
